After entering BFI from the main gate and driving about 4 km., you reach the CIGRA, which champions the production of quality livestock in Panama. CIGRA started in 2007 as an initiative of the UTO, Fertica and Batipa Livestock. This effort was supported by funds of the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacyt).
Important contributions made by CIGRA included a consolidation of cattle breeds adapted to the Panamanian tropical, climatic conditions such as SENEPOL and GYRHOLANDO cattle. The cattle herd is managed through sustainable, intensive silvopastoral systems in rotation.
